It ’s been a rough calendar week at study ; I recollect the shortest Clarence Shepard Day Jr. I run was 10 hours then my commute home for over an hour . I ’ve been sick to the item I nearly passed out at work and my hubby ’s hot dog Bubba is consume more bad mean solar day than good and a very bad decision need to be made .

Blogging goals

The garden , Spring 2016 .
Gardening goals
This class ’s biggest gardening goal is to be able to sustain my crime syndicate and some friends in veggies . I always attempt to grow something new . This yr ’s new plant life will be melon vine , shiso and orach . I ’m also growing many new varieties of favorites to experiment with .

The vegetable garden itself is due for an service . I have spent a great deal of time designing and redesigning the garden infinite for ease of mow around , harvesting and planting . ManBear require it to beraised bedswhich I ’m totally hunky-dory with but this will be a job for fall . There will be plenty of building material needed for the task and lots of recurrent plant to move too … like trees , again .
Last class , we had to move the Malus pumila tree diagram because it was on the petrol - line . It was not an easy job !
Homesteading Goals
The parking strip / hell strip / was - once - a - grass - verge - now - spawn - evil - goatheads - which - wound - my - furry - baby is getting a butterfly and bee friendly makeover this year with some Utah aboriginal plants and pretty grasses . It postulate to be zero maintenance because once the vinyl fencing goes up , I will forget about it ! I also wanted tomake some super cute glitch hotelsto put up in there too but then questioned if they would get destroy .
The Cluckers are not overly happy in the running . We ’ve been make pecking and bullying issue probably due to being cooped up . I give the girls great deal of treats like swinging genus Brassica and scar but I think the issue is space . A volaille forage garden around the cage is another project I would like to complete this year and I have spate of ideas from rock candy - edged raised beds and brick pave pathways to a tall grassy meadow . Do you readers have any advice on chicken forage gardens ? If you do please drop me a line or comment !

carry on more . With all of the herbs , vegetable and yield I be after on growing I need to keep more to make it last throughout the year . The raw fence will also permit for the Cluckers to come out of the run and into a better rivulet / pen in the garden . Chickens are a great resource and I want to use them as a Gallus gallus tractor around the yard and on the vegetable garden particularly . Utah seems to have quite a few crickety grasshoppery locust thingummybobwotsits which the chicken love to squabble over in the running game when I manage to catch them in plant life pots . Letting them go through the garden at the close of the season would be good for them and corking plague restraint in the garden .
The Cluckers will still need to be in a run to keep them safe from the Monochrome Menaces however .
I ’m really really really hanker to plant up the backyard with a permaculture inspired designing and grade the lot to make good use of water ( and channel it away from the mansion ) and reduce the lawn but that might be a bit of a longer goal !
