OK . It ’s clock time I fessed up . My garden is not consummate . My friends know this , masses who visit here know this , and now , you will know this . The true statement is , most of the images on this blog materialize in a small part of our garden – in fact , in about 20 % of it , near the glasshouse , in a fence in area on one side of the theater – it ’s about the only part of the garden I can focus on given my job , and time . The respite of our 2.5 acres is , well….unkempt . Messy . Even worthy of , well being shut down by the city for double-dyed nastyness . There are times in the summertime when we can only get to foreshorten the lawn , if you’re able to call it that , about once a month . Weeds expand . Garden design is out of control condition , since many of the trees are over 100 years old ( all planted by either my parents or my grandparents ) , and sadly , many now need to be take – a task that is just too monumental and costly so we prove to hit one every other twelvemonth .

Here are some of the photos of area that we have been capable to begin restoring , bit - by - bit , and then , some of the problem area which I still need to confront . Then , some of the new problem that have arrived – puppy problems . We are discovering that four Irish Terriers can demolish a garden overnight . Yesterday , they ate 3 large Crambe cordifolia plant life mighty to the ground , today , they ran race around the glasshouse , and tear out more than 25 turgid Gladiator alliums , and destroyed the alpine garden . This calendar week , they have eat breakstone in the trough , prick off most of the Pulsatilla blossom , and crack most of the tulip . Lawn ? there is no longer any lawn .

Another trouble surface area , this needs to be opened up , which means these large white pines need to be withdraw , as well as about 4 tall Norway Spruces . the right way now , it ’s just crappy vinca , pine needles and green goddess . marginal stain is everywhere , and very little lawn .

Some dog crazyness – and I stand for crazyness . we ’ve had to total bomb wire fences , and now , we need to install a chain link fence – 200 fundament of it ! I am freaking out , but   I am afraid there is no turning back . I fear I have fall back this squeamish side of the garden , where I keep the Hellebores and most of my ephemeron . I will just have to relocate them , and I think the dogs will keep most plant broken or excavate up .
