Transforming a new garden
Today we ’re bring down with Michele Baker and view how she has translate her new garden on Cape Cod in Massachusetts .
I ’ve lovedFine Gardeningfor year and am always inspired by readers ’ photos with new gardens and what they ’ve been capable to achieve . I in the end got a hazard to do the same matter last class .
This house was in the family , and when it come time to retire , we move here to Cape Cod from California . Last yr we recast the inside of our little bungalow , and then last spring we startle on the outside . The mansion sat on a plot of sad brown grass with no garden beds . We dug and amended and planted and kept going . It ’s come in a long way in about 15 months .

This “ before ” shot was take in April 2020 . Not much to see here except potency !
And the “ after ” guessing — wow , have they been busy ! It ’s hard to trust this shift took place in just over a year .
The new backyard is mostly inshadeand so is fill up with plants that can take scummy lightheaded atmospheric condition .

One of Michele ’s favorite corner of the garden has a premix of nuance - loving annuals andperennials . Puttingannualsin empty infinite in a new garden is a great way to avoid ignominious country while the perennial develop and expand to fill the spaces .
Container plantings on the pack of cards
The front grounds , like the back , has been transformed , but it contains moreperennials for sun . Again , a few yearbook ( such as marigolds [ Tagetes ] ) admixture with the perennials to fill the blank space and make a lavish garden .

Another niche of the back shade garden hascoleus(Solenostemonscutellarioides , Zone 11 or as annual ) gather in around the young bush and perennials .
