New Spaces in Carol’s Garden

Beautiful new plantings

Today we ’re confabulate with Carol Verhake .

Here in Berwyn , Pennsylvania ( Zone 6b/7a ) , I continue to expand my 21 - year - honest-to-goodness garden . I have replaced thelawnwith planting beds in many sphere and changed the conception in some spots to includenew plantsand to reorganize existing ace .

My favored novel quad is in the front of my home above a stone wall . I ’ve really delight having neighbor comment on how much they savor the flower display as they take the air or drive by . Established beds like thesunny borderand the woodland preserve to mature and bring me joy . New additions likeStokesia‘Peachies ’ Pick ’ ( zone 5–9),Scutelaria incana(Zones 5–8 ) , andDaphne‘Carol ’s Limelight ’ ( Zones 4–8 ) leave tremendous pops of colour andtexture .

Araliacordata‘Sun King’(Zones 4–8 ) has glowingyellow - special K foliagethat looks arresting here .

Smooth hydrangea(Hydrangeaarborescens , Zones 3–9 ) with switchgrass ( Panicumvirgatum , Zones 5–9 )

The new front delimitation above the stone wall looks so good ! No wonder the neighbors are comment on it so much .

Rudbeckia ( Rudbeckiafulgida , Zones 4–9 ) blooms around a sundial .

Agarden shedsits amid the lush foliation of theshade garden .
