I arrived here in the Ozarks last hebdomad , to get ready for the yearly Herb Harvest Fall Festival , which start this Thursday , October 3 , and goes through Saturday the 5th . Every twelvemonth , we gather to fete the harvest home season as well as different countries during the festival and this twelvemonth the nation of coastal Africa will be feature . Therefore , the gardener at The Heritage Herb Garden planted indigienous African crop and also crops that were brought to Africa and are now grown there in large quantities for consumption as well as exportation . So here at the OFC there are okra , peanuts , and sweet white potato growing on the root cellar hill . Peanuts are not really a nut which grows on a Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree , rather a legume , which grows in the soil . They have an odd grow habit in that they flower aboveground and raise underground . Friday ’s lunch is a Good Ole ’ Southern Meal serving Oven - Baked Fish with Lemon Herbs ; southerly - fashion Greens ; Pinto Beans ; menage - Fried Potatoes ; Hot - Water Cornbread ; Herbed Biscuits and Sweet Potato Pone for dessert .

I will be presenting a curriculum onThe African Influence of the Southern U.S.and prove a Peanut and Sweet Potato Soup with Coconut Milk ; Spicy Okra Stew with Cheesy Whole - grain Grits ; plantain fried in Coconut Oil ; and Benne Seed Wafers assist with watermelon wedges , which will be the menu for luncheon on Saturday .

John Ghana , who ownsTreaures of Africa , will be bringing African mathematical product from his shop and setting up a collapsible shelter where he will sell spiciness and herbs , shea butter , black scoop , clothing , baskets , drums and more . He will be presentingThe Medicinal Herbs and Plant Oils of Ghana .
