1. ‘Gateway’ Joe Pye Weed
Name:Eupatorium maculatum‘Gateway’
USDA Hardiness Zones:5 to 11
Size:5 feet magniloquent and 3 to 4 metrical foot wide
experimental condition : Full sun to fond shade ; moist soil

By June 21 , the mottle , grim purple stem of ‘ Gateway ’ Joe Pye weed are pinch with expectant mauve - pink flower . And despite persistent steamy conditions , the blooms often continue into other fall . This is a perfect back - of - the - border perennial , particularly if you want a goodly garden because , although it is tall , is does n’t flop all over the place . supplementary water may be needed to keep this gorgeous plant at its good during super hot summers .
2. ‘Georgia Peach’ Heuchera
Name:Heuchera‘Georgia Peach’
Zones:4 to 9
Size:12 to 14 inches tall and 2 feet wide
Conditions : Full sunshine to partial shade ; well - drained soil

Hybridizers have created an almost unimaginable color pallette with heucheras , and ‘ Georgia Peach ’ is one of my dearie . The first new spring leaves emerge peach in color with a striking atomic number 47 overlay . The foliation deepens to flushed purple in nightfall and winter . finespun white flowers arise in former summer from a naturally compact , dome - form works . ‘ Georgia Peach ’ was bred to tolerate gamey heat and humidity , but be sure to remediate heavy garden soils with coarse constituent matter and ensure the website is well - drained , peculiarly in winter .
3. ‘Charles Johnston’ Daylily
Name:Hemerocallis‘Charles Johnston’
Zones:3 to 9
Size:2 feet magniloquent and 18 column inch broad
When I first date this daylily years ago , it immediately fail to the top of my must - have list . In a sea of daylily selection , this is the truest , most vibrant red I ’ve seen . ‘ Charles Johnston ’ has flowers and halt that are specially thick-skulled and , therefore , obligate up well to rough weather conditions . The abundant flowers are 6 inches in diameter with a beautiful yellow throat . An early to midseason bloomer , this beauty mostly starts the show in early July in my upper Midwest garden . If deer are a trouble in your area , you ’ll need to use repellent or netting .

4. Variegated Moor Grass
Name:Molinia caerulea‘Variegata’
Zones:5 to 9
Size:18 to 24 inches grandiloquent and across-the-board
Conditions : Full sun to fond shade ; moist , acidic , well - enfeeble grime

As much as I savour virtually all decorative grasses , if I were allowed only one , variegated moor grass would be it . It ’s hard to adequately describe the grace of this flora , with its beautiful striped leave and stringy scandalmongering peak stems that seem in summer solstice . The stems eventually open to break slender seed head , creating a haze around the plant . It is dull to establish , so be patient .
