Still looking good despite a dry summer

Today we ’re in Sweaburg , Ontario , visiting with Alice Fleurkens . We ’ve been to her beautiful garden a couple time before ( seeAlice ’s Front Garden in Canada ) , and it is always a pleasure to visit .

It has been a unmanageable twelvemonth to keep the garden looking nice , even though I revel it as much as ever . It has been hot and dry , andwateringis for sure no second-stringer for rainwater . But this hydrangea(Hydrangea paniculata , zone 4–8 ) seems to have found a smear it likes . It has been go three times ( I conceive ) but is lastly happy .

This is thelow - maintenancesection , which need only a littlepruningin spring and not need much body of water .

I do enjoy myannualsand plant them right into the planters . They last longer and get much bigger .

This is my favoriteshady spotin the backyard . The moles have been eat thehostas , but fortuitously not all of them . They also destroy onesedum . Nothing ever seemed to bother the sedum until now . It is falling over little by little , and some of the hostas died off leaf by leafage . Any advice on that would be apprise .

I establish these hostas to hide the frightful bare bottom of that huge spreader . They apparently love that spot , because they took off like unhinged in a matter of two eld . There are nomolesin the front yard .
