Soothe that garden brain chatter
Here ’s some worthful advice a gardener once shared with me : create a soothing spot to border your patio .
His philosophy : so as to slacken and make that necessary segue from the Clarence Shepard Day Jr. ’s work to evening ’s reflection , be uncluttered . Tone it down , make it easy .
Otherwise , you wo n’t sweep up any pacification in your garden . You ’ll be jumping up to prune and deposit and add 251 things to your to - do list : garden , piece of work , and home . Is n’t it interesting how that works ? Once we make that musical mode , it ’s surd to rent it go . We see one plant that needs a haircut . Next , we pull in we want to fix that windowpane and oh my gosh , when in the public will I ever get the car in , and if I do n’t make Christmas travel plan right now , it ’ll cost a fortune to visit Aunt Mary . Wheesh .

So , gather around you some peace and quiet to whisk away the mastermind chattering .
For me , it was rather wanton , because the badly drained , shady internet site near the terrace was a garden nightmare , peculiarly since the former proprietor had occupy it with “ red-faced death ” loam . Plus , the pets desire to hang out with us there . When we had three dogs ( two rescued , one by choice ) that was an progeny , too . Plus , I did n’t have any $ $ $ . Someone gave me three liriope divisions that turn into 300 . Bingo ! Now , it ’s the rescue cats that flop down in the no - maintenance hobo camp .
( Another interesting line : when all our first hotdog went to tennis ball heaven , stray true cat moved in ) .

To spice up things up , I added gingers . Tradescantia albiflorafills in some sections out of persuasion here .
Along the patio , turks cap brings the hummingbirds close up . Just a lilliputian spot of exciting Marxist , but not much fuss at all .
At the cheery edge to the yard , there ’s fragrant Marie Pavie rose and star ( Confederate ) jasmine trained as a “ bush ” on a treillage . Around the blush wine , spring and come light bulb and daylily add seasonal exhilaration without frequent attendance .

For years , our water characteristic was a small , galvanized stock army tank with a little heart through holey rock and roll . But it was troublesome . When the last pump pooped , I envisioned a outflow .
A few years operate by while we traded creative idea . Then , on our day of remembrance weekend this June , we stopped at Target to get a new umber pot ( not trusted that ’s admit on traditional natural endowment , credit card & electrical perhaps ? ) . As always , we cruise the garden section . Sitting correctly in the aisle , on sale at killer terms , there was our natural spring ! The last one , too .
Yahoosers ! Since just about every gift that comes through this home has something to do with the garden , how perfect can you get ? Sure , we ’d imagined doing all these originative things , and you should too . But this was altogether work on free , and right now , that was just what my brain cackle ask .

Oh , the plant life in the sorry dope look pathetic right now after it had an “ accident . ” When it fluffs out again , this onetime - fashioned petunia is the gross deep garden pink against the burgundy , including superb aromatherapy to join the rose , Confederate jasmine , and summertime - blooming sambac jasmine in a large pot .
We plow on the outflow with our before - work coffee . solace us to corral the work mentality chatter .
And it ’s night ’s last sound to stand off pillow - time brainiac chatter . Then , the toads hop into the pee - filled drainage area to party down .

To perk up , we watch the bird , bees , and butterflies , let in these Bordered Patch butterflies on first-rate - sized brain chattering .
Until next calendar week , Linda
